About us

Who We Are

Guru Nanak Naam Leva Sangat (GNNLS) is a humanitarian organisation registered in Italy as an ODV (organizzazione di volontariato), Codice Fiscale 94174840267. Founded in 2022 by Ranjeet Singh, we are a community of volunteers united by the Sikh tradition of sewa — selfless service — working to support people in need exclusively in India.

Our registered office is in Annone Veneto (VE), Italy. Every programme we run serves families, students, and individuals in India who lack access to basic food, education, healthcare, or safe housing.

Our story

A sangat before an organisation.

We did not begin with a strategy. We began with a knock on a door — leaving atta and daal and rice for a family in India who had none. That act, repeated by volunteers who had never met each other in person but shared the same teaching, became the foundation of what GNNLS is today.

The Sikh tradition holds that service is not optional, nor is it charity. It is a duty — vand chakna, the sharing of what we have. For us, that means covering a child’s school fees so their family does not have to choose between books and food. It means paying for medicines an elderly person in India cannot afford. It means building a safe home for a family displaced by floods.

We are a Sikh-inspired organisation, but our help is for every person in need, regardless of faith, caste, or background. Guru Nanak’s teaching was universal. So is our work.

Our guiding principles

Three teachings of Guru Nanak.

These are not slogans. They are the operating principles of every programme we run.

ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ

Naam Japna

Remember the Divine in everything you do. Let every action — every meal delivered, every bill paid, every home built — be an act of remembrance.

ਕਿਰਤ ਕਰਨੀ

Kirat Karni

Earn honestly, through honest labour. Our volunteers and donors do not give what they cannot afford — they give from what they have earned through honest work.

ਵੰਡ ਛਕਣਾ

Vand Chakna

Share what you have with others. This is not generosity — it is duty. Every rupee that reaches a family in India through GNNLS is vand chakna in practice.

Our team

The people behind the work.

Guru Nanak Naam Leva Sangat is led by a small group of people who treat this as a duty, not a job. Ranjeet Singh, our founder, started this sangat in 2022 with a simple conviction: that dasvandh given honestly should reach someone in need without delay, without waste, and without ceremony. Alongside him, Hardeep Singh (Co-Founder), Kuldeep Singh (Director), Kulwinder Singh Grewal (Manager), and Avtar Singh Mavi (Secretary) hold the day-to-day decisions — what gets funded, who gets verified, how every rupee is accounted for.

But five names on a page are not the whole story. Behind every parcel of Langar, every school fee paid through Vidya, every rupee sent through Sahara in an emergency, there is a much larger circle of volunteers working quietly in the background. These sevadars are the ones who verify each request, confirm that help reaches the right hands, and make sure that what is entrusted to us is delivered securely, respectfully, and exactly where it is needed — every single time.

What drives us

Our Vision

A world where no one's dignity depends on where they were born.

A world where sewa crosses borders as easily as it crosses a gurdwara doorstep — where a sangat abroad can stand as close to a family in need as if they lived next door.

Our Mission

To turn dasvandh into direct, verified action for people in need across India.

Through food, education, health support, emergency relief, care for those who serve our gurdwaras, and safe homes. We do this the way Guru Nanak taught: earning honestly, remembering the One, and sharing without keeping score. Every rupee we receive is treated as an amanat — something placed in our trust, not our possession — and our only measure of success is whether it reached the right door.

ਵੰਡ ਛਕਣਾ

We don’t put every volunteer’s name on this website, not because their sewa matters less, but because this work has never been about recognition. It is about the person in need on the other side of the door. Whether it’s a Granthi Singh serving a small gurdwara, a family without enough to eat, or a student who cannot afford books, the same principle applies: someone checks, someone verifies, and someone makes sure the help actually arrives.

“This is what Vand Chakna looks like in practice — not a slogan, but a working system of ordinary people making sure that what is shared is never lost along the way.”
